Lil' Custom Custom?

Re: Lil' Custom Custom?

Not really. They all have a much more open sound. You'd have to go with one of the higher-output stacks. But a Little CC is a good idea.

Re: Lil' Custom Custom?

The custom shop lil78 is probably the closest, middy and a more subdued treble attack, sorta like the CC.

At that point you might as well just ask them for a Lil' CC. Lil' '78 is not a pickup listed on their website, and as such is a little tough to find at a good price used.

Re: Lil' Custom Custom?

There's no point in reducing the footprint of the Custom Custom. It's already a hot single-coil sounding humbucker. Matter of fact it's a one-trick pony (the CC is a mid-80s- era EVH pup) and sounds terrible when split. I had one in my Brazen and got tired of the Van Halen-centric tone. Now I'm looking for a pickup with more versatility but active... EMG Fat 55 is more what I'm interested in. Don't like that then get over it.

I agree with this. That every word of the post before this one is wrong. The CC splits very well, and it is great for all styles of music except modern metal, especially if you are the only guitarist in the band.

Re: Lil' Custom Custom?

Split Custom Custom sounds like crap. Can't gind a more one trick Van Halen sound out of a Duncan unless you get a '78 and that's being understated.

Re: Lil' Custom Custom?

the 78 is far from a one trick pony... obviously you and i have very different taste and ears
