Line 6 amps

I never fully understood why people avoid these amps. I happen to have one and I can get some decent tones out of it.

Re: Line 6 amps

my bass rig is line 6; powerful and is all in one - compressor, preamp, amp modeler, super cheap and light; Id never go tube! I tried the ampeg svt3 pro and it did not growl much at useable volumes;

so I walked out of the store a line 6 man!

Re: Line 6 amps

I've gotten a lot of use out of with my Spider onstage. I use it when my normal rig is too large for the venue. Decent recording amp, too.

Re: Line 6 amps

I used my Duoverb onstage quite a bit, it was a real good amp. Never used the Vetta I had onstage it just didn't work logistically for me but I have no doubt it would've been fine onstage, it is a tremendous amplifier.

I have heard guys get great sounds out of them onstage and I have heard guys get crap out of them just like about ever other amplifier ever made. It is a tool learn how to use it and it will serve you well.

I am a Line6 fan.

You know, I think you just hit the nail on the head. Gear, whatever gear, are tools. You can play any music with any suitable equipment. It's all dependent upon your ability to make the gear work for YOU. I can get the same tones out of a solid state amp as I can out of a tube amp. Modeling actually makes that job a LOT easier.

And I'm a Line 6 fan, too.

The Spider Valve Mark II sounds really good. Check out Robert's video.

A Family member has a Spider Valve 100H and i have spent some time with one.

I DO NOT LIKE !

Not even the Pre-Sets that i had huge expectations for (the Massugha[sp?] ones) delivered.

I'll stay with the Laney AOR's, Bassman's, 5E3's, Ampeg Jets, and all the other amps i love.

Just my 2cents and hours spent w this line6 product
;)

Re: Line 6 amps

I had a Vetta and as much as I loved the all the features and the versatility that it afforded; I just couldn't get it to sound right. It was a constant tweak fest and even when I did manage to get the tone right there was still 'something' missing. I ended up selling it and replacing it with the PodXt Live and ran it straight into the poweramp section of a good clean tube amp when I wanted to use the amp modeling.

I liked the Spiders I've played through though

Re: Line 6 amps

I love my Flextone III Plus. The only thing I wish it had is a model bank of OD/Dist. boxes. I have to depend on the amp model's gain and sometimes it's not enough.

I couldn't get anything really convincing out of the Vetta head. For a while I wa splaying live with a PODXT and a Crate Powerblock just for convenience but there was always some weird phasey thing happening in the mids. I love the PODXT as recording device and as a practice amp, since I have a metronome and mp3 mixer at my disposal via gearbox software. I think everything has it's place... The only convincing modeling i ever heard came out of Fractals's axe FX and to my ear did not sound as good as a tube amp either but it was good.

It should take an OD stomp fairly well. My cheap Bad Monkey pedal sounds pretty good with the PODXT.

Re: Line 6 amps

Although they're not known for the best tones, Twisted Sister's guitarists both use PODs. Come in, fly a cord to the POD, and one to the soundguy, tune up and you're ready to play with the exact tone you had last night.

For convienience's sake, that sounds pretty dang ok to me...it's like some others said...if you can make any amp/guitar above a certain standard work for you, then a POD would sound just fine.

Of course, none of this stops me from dragging 4x12s, 2x12s and tube amps around. :lmao:

I had a Line 6 Flextone duo that I paid a little too much for used. When I finally found something else I like better... I couldn't sell it. No one would buy it at any decent price. I finally ended up trading it in at Guitar center for a Delay pedal. Cool sounding amp... reliable... but did not hold value at all.

Re: Line 6 amps

I'm sure I'd be happy with one of those amps. That Spider value demo above sounds ok to me. I've been using a Fender Cyber Deluxe for years and I also have a Vox Tonelab LE. Both can do some cool tones. I also have a tube amp. They're all good to me.

You've got to be kidding. You didn't like the Vetta but you DID like the Spider?!

One of my amps is a Flextone 3 XL which is awesome. I recently inherrited a Spider from my son which sounds horrible. No good clean sounds at all. Only useful for metal or thrash.
