Line 6 DL-4

After wanting a DL-4 for ages I've finally got one at the price I can afford. £100 its mint and in the box:):):):):)

Well afford is a bit of a stretch of the truth I can't afford it but it was a bargain as scruffy models go for £160. Ebay is evil like that, comes up with the greatest BIN deals when you have least cash. :(

What I was wondering is do I have to use an original Line 6 power adaptor or can I use a universal one?

Re: Line 6 DL-4

you might be stuck with the line6 one. anything should work as long as it is within the specifications for the power requirement. however, i've yet to find any other adapter, besides the line6 one, that will physically fit into the little jack on the pedal. the jack on the line6 adapter is just a little bit smaller than all the other adapters out there.

Re: Line 6 DL-4

Voodoo labs Pedal Power can also power line 6 pedals

If you don't have a PPII with "specific Line 6 reverse polarity cable' then you MUST use the Line 6 adapter specifically made for your unit. If you buy a universal, you could fry the unit. the reason is that L6 uses a specific size jack, made for reverse polarity. That means that the plug is wired normally on one end, and reversed on the other side.

Buy the Line 6 adapter at a L6 dealer if you can't get the Voodoo PPII. And for those looking to buy a PPII....the power supply only comes with 1 L6 rev. pol. cable, even though the unit powers 2.
That means you have to Email Voodoo Lab, and they'll send you another free L6 cable. FYI.

Re: Line 6 DL-4

"Power All"l comes with a special adaptor for running line 6 pedals, but it would probably be easier to just buy the made by the company.

Re: Line 6 DL-4

Line 6 pedals typically consume a lot of energy. Those modelers usually don't work well with adapters other than the Line 6 adapters. My Boss DD-20 works fine when my Visual Sound OneSpot is powering it and a few other pedals.

Re: Line 6 DL-4

the Visual SOund 1-spot will power it with the right plug. don't use a Boss one, it won't work. Go with the Line6 one or the 1-spot- both around the same price, though the 1 spot will power more pedals.

Re: Line 6 DL-4

Someone I know w/ a DD-20 gets hum if he powers it w/ a 1-Spot.

I've seen the L6 adapter regularly on ebay for $20.

Re: Line 6 DL-4

Don't want to fry my bargain so I'll get a Line6 power supply, they're not as expensive as first thought about £18 including shipping.

Re: Line 6 DL-4

I've been gassing after one as well, but as you said, you've got to have the cash available at the right time to snaffle the good BIN prices. Once my Tele project is finished, a DL-4 should hopefully fill the final piece in my current tone jigsaw.

Re: Line 6 DL-4

The only down side of finding this bargain is that I'll have to put my strat project on hold a little longer but at least that will give me a bit more time to find a vintge rails or duckbucker for the middle position.
