Line 6 pedals any good?

I went to GC last nite to pick up a Boss compressor pedal. As luck would have it, they were out of stock. The sales guy there tried to sell me a Line 6 compressor pedal. I've tried Line 6's spider amps and didn't care for the tone or the built in effect at all. this was dissapointing as I've always heard good things about the effect on the pods. Anyone try out their new pedals yet? Are they any good?

Haven't used their compressor, but I do own the Tap Tremolo. So far it's been a very usefull pedal. It's not a tone altering pedal, and I find that what goes in is generally what comes out tone wise. Pretty good job of adding tremolo without coloring tone.

The Line 6 pedals have a plastic case and the Tap series has a pressure sensitive footswitch. Probably not the best pedals to buy if you really stomp on your stuff. If you're a little more gentle while playing, they should hold up fine.

The Spider series are the only Line 6 product I really dislike (actually just the Spider II). Everything else I've tried, like the POD, their modeling pedals, and the Flextone III, are all good IMO. I've heard good things about their Tone Core line too, so I think you'll be good with it.

The tones on the Spider II's are pretty weak. Very un-versitile too. However, those things do excel in the effects department. Those idiots on harmony central reviews (and elsewhere) have no idea how to milk an amp of it's onboard effects. I managed to get quite a few useful (and great sounding) flange, ping-pong, chorus, and a very excellent tremelo sound out of the 2x12 Spider II.
The other cool thing about the Spider II is how they stuck a tuner in there. The patch buttons (A, B, C, D) act sort of like the needle on a tuner. If B and C are green and blinking its in tune (supposing it's standard, I guess), whereas anything in the red it either flat or sharp. Otherwise, it's a pretty crappy amp.
I think, amp-wise, I don't really like Line 6, but in terms of pedal they're pretty much becoming the up-and-coming kings.

Oh yeah, yesterday I picked up a Line6 MM-4 Modulation Modeler. I'll mess with it over the weekend and let you guys know how it works out. [I mean, if you care. If not...I mean, I'll keep it to myself then]

I haven't tried the new pedals yet, but I'm still in love with the DL-4 after 3 years of constant use and abuse.

i have used line 6 DL-4 before. it's a very good pedal IMO. but too expensive of a pedal for me. until i get a better paying job that is... :yell:

Re: Line 6 pedals any good?

If you look at the pedalboards of many pros, the green and blue L6's are on them.
I've used those two pedals for years, and there's no end to the sounds you can tweeze out of them. I wan't even a fan of delay, till i got that green L6, but I wish there were more than 3 presets, because I could program about 10 sounds on it.
The Blue L6 modulator takes the place of about 16 pedals.

Re: Line 6 pedals any good?

One of these days I'd like to try the AM-4 (I think?) Amp Modeler pedal, but none of the local shops ever have it. It would be nice to go from Fender clean to Marshall crunch to high-gain just by stepping on a switch. I had a POD years ago, and played it through a Tech-21 Power Engine. I sold them to get my Hot Rod Deluxe. I wonder how the AM-4 would sound as a pre-amp into the power amp of the HRD?
