line 6 tonecore pedals?

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting the verbzilla, and my local store will throw 2 of the other modules in free if I grab one (echo park not allowed).

So, what's good in the line apart from echo park and verbzilla? and how's the durabiity? -anyone out there spent some decent time spilling beer on them at gigs?

Re: line 6 tonecore pedals?

Gotta say, I really don't like the Verbzilla, but if you're going to get it anyway, the roto-machine (leslie simulator) pedal is cool. It's only drawback is it doesn't have a mix control. It's great to play through a separate amp while keeping your main amp dry.

PS They're pretty durable in my experience.

Re: line 6 tonecore pedals?

I own the Verbzilla and really love it. I bought it when the reverb in my Peavey Classic 30 crapped out on me.
I now use it with my Marshall amps too.
I only have one other Line 6 pedal, the CrunchTone but I don't like it. I cannot find a good sounding combination with the darn thing.
If you can, I suggest just trying out as many of the pedals as you can and decide that way.

I like the Verzilla alot. Also use it with a Classic 30. Wish I could have got mine and got to free pedals.

local guitar center? or something else?

Great deal, Martin. I love the 'Zilla. I wanted to try an Echo Park, but I have not had the urge to try the other modules. Let us know what you get.

Re: line 6 tonecore pedals?

I thought the tremolo was decent....nothing to write home about but pretty good, and the tap tempo sort of works.

re: reliability, the case was pretty sturdy, but the knobs kind of scare me. They seem like they'd break really easily, like I wouldn't want to throw it in a bag of cables and drive off unless it was in a box. Might be just me though.

yeah, tried the trem and hated the tap tempo. And you're right about those knobs...

Re: line 6 tonecore pedals?

Make sure that you use a seperate power supply for each pedal . . . there is some kind of problem with the tonecore pedals that causes a lot of noise if you are trying to chain together a bunch of them off the same power supply.

Re: line 6 tonecore pedals?

In my opinion, these are suprisingly good pedals. They look cheep, but they are SOLID!! They wiegh twice as much as a boss pedal and unless you spill beer directly on top of it you are fine. I had a guitarist that spilt beer inside his MM4 pedal and it shorted out. I took it apart dried it out and cleaned it up and it powered right back up. no problems! So duribility wise these are great especially the echos and verbs!

THE ONLY THING I HATE about these pedals is that you need to have the DC1 power supply or a Voodoo Lab Pedal power. If you use the One Spot or Boss adapters it will HUM VERY LOUD!! I use a looper so it wasn't even in the signal chain and it sounded like my amp was about to explode! I then bought the Line 6 DC1 power supply and it was fine after that. and don't even think about using bateries.... I put a fresh set of Duricell AA's and they were drained in 2 hours!

This is very true. In fact in the manual for the 1 Spot power supply it states to never use more than 1 L6 product at a time. My Verbzilla works great and is dead quiet. But I can't run that and the Echo Park at the same time.....it's very noisy.

Re: line 6 tonecore pedals?

The verbzilla is decent. I have one also, but it really does not compare to real revverb IMHO. I use it sparingly with an amp that does not have a reverb tank. If I had to do it again I would have bought a Fender reverb tank. They just sound more natural to me.
