Line 6 Uber Metal

Is this a pedal that will give great metal sounds through any good quality tube amp, or do you need a metal amp to get that metal sound? I'm going to use it through two amps, one with a more plexi Marshall sound and one with a tweed Bassman circuit. Whaddya guys think? Yay or Nay.

Re: Line 6 Uber Metal

Well, with the Bassman it takes a LOT to drive it so I'll be safe with that. The other one is a 10 watt amp so I'll have to watch that one a little more carefully.

Thanks for the tip!

Uber metal i a good pedal.the insane mode is really nice for riffing. But no pedal or preamp can give this "feeeling" ,"headroom" a and "dynamics".
But if you play mostly no metal and just want to record r jam ,the uber metal is a good choice. But keep in mind there are other good pedals with more "feeling" like rocktron rampage or silver dragon, boss mega distortion or metal zone ,digitech black 13 ,vox bulldog(this one is a killer)...these are the pedals that i have experience ,there are other once like Krank Distortus Maximus and so ,but i have no idea how they sound in "real" situations.BUt uber metal is a good one.I played it thru a Crate gtx 30 or somethin.even on this amp was it real clear and fat !!!and it has a gate!!

a tweed bassman? headroom? are you sure?

Compared to my 10 watt amps and the volume I play at now, yes. It starts to overdrive around 4 or 5, but even at 2 or 3 the clean is so full and lush--and LOUD.

I've been looking at that bulldog. Lotta money, but it seems to get heavier than Priest or Lynch type drives, which is what I'm looking for.

Yeah ,try rocktron silver dragon. It is tube and transistor ,and it screaaaaaaaaaaaams!!!.from Priest to slayer everything possible ,if you like a more "sharp" tone ,the rampage is great wich i used for a looong time.ona fender amp sound really good.
The mega distortion is something" new" foe many ears ,if you ola down tuned as i do(dropped c) it is the right one for you.

Personally, I thought the Boss Mega Distortion sounded like complete ass... and this was beside my Metal Zone at band volumes and below :laugh2:. I think that speaks for itself, because no one I've known has ever liked the Mega Distortion. But if you like it and can get some good sounds of it, that's cool.

Re: Line 6 Uber Metal

I still haven't heard a single distortion "Metal" pedal that I've liked. Boss Metal Zone, Line 6 Uber Metal, Zoom Tri-Metal, Boss Hyper Metal, Rocktron Metal Worker, Digitech Metal Master... all sound like ass to me.

Honestly, I'd do the 'heavy' tone coloring from the amp, not from the pedal. I'd take something like a Boss DS-1 or a more 'neutral' distortion pedal and then shape the tone with the EQ of your amp. It will get heavy. :fingersx:

Heheh ,that was my first impression too ,but as i "tweaked" a liitle more ,and played drooped to d and c ,this think was showing his better face!!!its more "natural" and "deeper" as the mt2 ,but i like it too!!!

Re: Line 6 Uber Metal

as daemon barbeque the rocktron silve dragon is a very good option for what you seem to want. I replaced my Über Metal with a dragon it improved a lot in my tone. The silver dragon doesn't have as much presets or options as the ÜB but the tones it does have way more Mojo. The SD just sounds way more ballsy and natural than any digital or analog pedal i know of.Everything from Maiden to Mesa like chainsaw sound in there(but with a tighter low end which is very cool imo).
