Well, for me to hate something it should do something hostile. The Variax did no evil against me, I just played both the electric and acoustic versions for a minute and just walked away.

I'm a bridge humbucker-cable-wah-dirty channel guy so the positive advantage of versatility doesn't mean a thing for me but the cold feel does so the variay is not my cup of T. I do admire of the technology they packed in.

To be honest with you; I couldn't find anything. I did a search and just came across over-priced Variax's...

You may want to buy the Variax then surf pawnshops for reasonably priced, but farily playable, guttable guitars. Or, do the body shopping at Warmoth and buy the Variax later.

One thing that really made me like the Variax was guitars that I sold that I wish I never did, but those models are on there. The LP Jr w/ P-90's bridge position just rocks. I miss my old real 59 LP. Also the 335 is damn good. Makes me want to replace my old 71 335. The cost to replace them I don't miss, so the Variax will suffice these days until I get a big windfall.

My guess is that anyone who buys a Variax acoustic probably has at least one good acoustic guitar already. I think acoustic tone wasn't a top priority, since the body has nothing to do with the end result. It would be great for Line6 to partner with a good guitar maker and let them handle the building of the guitars.

If they made one that played half as good as it sounds, i'd buy it.

I'm not interested in it. Then again, I've yet to find a channel switching amp that makes me want to buy it. I guess I'm somewhat of a throwback.

The Line6 Variax technology interests me. It would be cool to own but I'd have to buy a 500, then put the electronics into a Warmoth variax-routed strat body and neck for much better response and guitar playability.

I've played one, and my impression was that it was a pretty cool idea, but a fairly cheap guitar. The models aren't exact, and the vintage tele and strat settings left something to be desired, but I will say this: the variax had the closest Les Paul sound I've ever heard from a basswood strat-scale guitar. No standard pickup would get that guitar as close to such a tone.

I like the idea of the electronics being put in a standard guitar, and being mixable with standard pickups. Then you could have the guitar's standard voice, and close representations of everything else all in one guitar that you actually like. Very cool.

I'm also interested to see how close they get with the next generation of electronics.
