Line 6 Vetta 2, What do you think about this amp?

I've tried it, and really like it. It has everything you could want on it and I feel that it has really good tone. I've heard many people that say anything without tubes just doesn't cut it? What do you think. I can get a really good deal on one of these amps should I go for it? If anyone has one, have you enjoyed it and does it compare with tube amps? Would you like it for hard rock? Thanks

I have it and it rocks big time! I have the Head version I use with a GenzBenz 2x12 GFlex cab for it. If you visit my Line 6 site (URL below) in the Vetta forum section, there are plety of guys who have plenty of tracks available if you want to hear heavy stuff being player with it.

One of the guys (David) plays with the industrial metal band The Thrill Kill Cult using his Vetta Combo, as does Michael Romeo of Symphony X. It's great for everything from jazz to whatever?

I disagree. Romeo's "tone" is a poor man's Malmsteen sound; nothing original, and actually quite sucky live. I've seen SX many times, and my band has opened for them twice. Not to take away from Romeo as a player ... the man is a genius and guitar god, and I love SX to pieces. But his guitar tone is rubbish.

I like them, I think that it would open up new possibilities to your sound. Im would get one, but since something thats full fledged tube is more economical, thats what im getting.

i think they sound ok in a small room for rehersal and swound fantastic when playing by yourself. on stage i think they lack the mids to cut thru, a buddy of mine uses one and while hes a monster guitar player, he gets lost in the mix very easily

They sound great in a variety of situations. I used a modified '69 Marshall head for years before switching to Mesa Duel Rectifier and modified Peavey Ultra Plus. I have no regrets going to the Vetta head and cabinet. In fact, I am getting some of the best tones of my life. You might sacrifice a small amount of feel, but I can live with that for the variety of tones I get. I jammed with a band the other night in which the other guitar player had a tube rig. The bassist and drummer both agreed my tone was great all night and cut through no problem. In fact the other guitarist had to make adjustments to be heard as well as me.

Sorry guys, I have seen far too many bands get great and cutting tone with Line 6 assuming the guy can tweak his amp. I don't care what type of amp you have.......it all comes down to your EQ ability and it can be complex with the Vetta but well worth the wait.

If a guys isn't cutting live or sounds bad, it would be the result of his inability to tweak the amp. Keep in mind, I hated the Line 6 Flextone II amps and also wasn't thrilled with Vetta I. It wasn't until VII and the HD147 came along that I really started to perk up and forget about tubes.

I am sorry, but I have to laugh when I hear someone say they are only good for rehearsals, practice, jamming at home, etc. :laugh2:

I have never been more happy with an amp as I have been witrh the latest Vetta. My next amp will be a Line 6 assuming the company continues on the same path.

I agree! Not cutting through is a tweak factor fault by the player not the amp. I had the HD 147 and stepped up to the Vetta II HD, just because I wanted more possibilities. I also had played many multi-amp setups live and missed that factor. The reason most players don't get the Vetta, is they don't have the experience of mixing and matching the right amps together, and knowing the characteristics of each to get the most of them. There are many great players that can't dial a tone in to save their life.

yeah i agree its one thing being able to have all the features of a line 6 amp but to use them sucessfully is up to the player.

i think my flex 2 is pretty crappy though. i like the vetta 2 and HD 147 and the flex III though. can't wait for the next line of stuuf :)

your "code" is retarded...line 6 didn't come out with effects first and then amps...it's the other way around...

Yeh and also i must say that the marshall Jackhammer i though was the best ever od/distortion pedal i ever heard and tried..(havent tried any booteek pedals) and it would blow boss od pedals out of the water hands down..

I don't own one, but in the past 2 months I have played them quite extensively. They kick ass. No question about it. But be warned, there is ENDLESS tweaking opportunities with the amp. I like to set my EQ and play, which you can do with the Vetta, but your not really maximizing its sonic abilities. The amp is a knob turners dream come true. The verdict is still out on whether or not I am buying one, but I do like them. If the price would come down I would be all over it. $1600 = Engl Powerball or Vetta II. See the problem?

Re: Line 6 Vetta 2, What do you think about this amp?

I think with any of the "bag of tricks" amps (that wasn't intended in a derogatory manner) one needs to be able to try it out in a live situation. I Like the Vetta and HD series. i am playing a line 6 guitar port now (not the same thing i know). When I play live I use Tube amps. I am a little older and was turned off to multi-effects and do it all amps/effects in the '80s & '90's primarily by the Digitech line of guitar processors. Other than the digital hiss, many of these products sounded good at bedroom levels, but when that same sound was amplified to a stage level, it flattened out and turned to mush (with a digital hiss usually heard at the end of a palm mute.) I personally would have taken a marshall valvestate over most multi-effect "bag of tricks". I have played most all of the line 6 products, and have to say they have removed 90% of my aversion to amp modelling technology. Many of the sounds that are modelled react much as the real amp would ie. feedback, touch sensativity, rolloff, power amp distortion vs. preamp distortion, on and on and on. What I havn't tried, is using one live in a club setting, in a band mix situation. I would highly encourage anyone thinking of getting one of these amps to play live with versus using as a practice amp to try it out in a live situation. Most of the music stores I deal with would let me do that if I wanted, especially if I put down a deposit on the amp. You don't test drive a car in the showroom do you?
