i've got a switch going bad on my DL4. it doesn't have any trouble making the electrical contact to do it's job of switching the effects on and off, but the switch itself is sticking a lot. i figured i'd try and get the circuit board out of there so i can put a drop or two of 3 in 1 oil on the switch without getting any of it on the circuitry, but i can't get those darn knobs off the top panel of the thing, and i don't want to break it.

anyone ever take one of these things apart?

yeah, i've heard of it being a pretty common problem with these things.

i couldn't figure out how to get those darn knobs off of the thing, so i ended up just putting a couple of drops of 3-in-1 oil down the shaft of the push switch, and it isn't sticking anymore.

never had a problem with any of mine. dunno about the 3 in one oil though, that can't be good for the insides of this thing...go on the Line6 boards and ask first.

I took mine apart one time, when a switch wasn't working right.
The way it works is the switch is just a spring loaded thing. It pushes down on a digital keypad. If you take it apart, you've got to make sure all the pieces of the switch are put together perfectly, because if you get 1 washer placed wrong, it won't work. Using a little bit of oil probably got the metal to not stick, but I'm not sure if you'd want to pour much oil into it, so it doesn't drench a digital component.
