Line6 pedals

i love everyone

i've been thinking about getting a delay pedal for a while, just to play around with, and was looking at the Line 6 Echo Park. apparently it's part of a series of pedals where you can use the same base dock and switch out the chip for a different effect.

the whole Echo Park pedal is $150 at Guitar Center, but the chip is only $70, so i was thinking it would be ridiculously convenient if i could buy the chip only and make a box for it with input/output, a battery, and a switch.

is this possible, or is the base for all these pedals more than just a box with two jacks and a switch?

Re: Line6 pedals

The innards of the boxes are actually pretty complicated...lots o surface mount components, makes my head spin just looking at it. Dunno if its possible to make one of the modules work in a simplified version of the pedal, but my gut doesn't think it is. That's my expert advice.

Re: Line6 pedals

As much as I like L6, their equipment is digital and complex. I would not recommend using a makeshift dock.

Re: Line6 pedals

darn...it seemed like one of those things that was too good to be true.

that being the case, can anyone recommend a good delay pedal for under $100 (used or new)?

Re: Line6 pedals

boss dd-3 or the danelectro danecho!

i've owned both (lesstrats now got mine :D) both very good pedals!

danecho gives a much longer delay time if you want it, and sounds a bit more analogue in general.. i've completely forgotten where my DD3 went, come to think of it :D

Re: Line6 pedals

hah, i actually just went this afternoon to Atomic (used music store around here) and picked up a Dan-Echo for $19! it's pretty sweet.

Re: Line6 pedals

save up and buy the DL4. I have it and it's so much better than any smaller pedal. Plus..the loop sampler sounds incredible
