Linear volume pots

Re: Linear volume pots

I like its lightness and the acoustic resonance coming from cheaper wood and its big cavity for the pickups.
I feel more creative and productive when I write songs and riffs with it than when I am playing my more ¨serious¨ one thousand bucks Stratocaster.
I am not saying any entry level instrument is the same. Maybe I am just fortunate.
Mine is light and sounds amazing. On a whim I called Fender consumer relations and gave them the serial number to see what wood it's made of. They looked it up while I was on the phone and come to find out, it's agathis. I never heard of it before but it gave me a new respect for some of the less expensive woods. Re: Linear volume pots

I think I found what I was looking for (well, in theory):
Bourns Pro Audio 500K Low Friction long life Pot Linear Taper EVH fits Charvel.

That's a 3/8" bushing pot, fine spline ... just like the CTS. I like the Bourns mini pots where I need a small pot. The full size pots are OK and they may be the lowest torque pots I've run across, but the rotation is a bit "gritty" for lack of a better term. You don't notice it with knobs on the pot and the pot installed but it's there. The tolerances are wider than even the standard CTS pots as well. Honestly, I think you are better off just getting the CTS linear taper pots. I've have both Bourns and CTS in my parts stock and both in guitars. I think that the CTS is a better pot. But the Bourns will work fine if that's what you want. I wouldn't pay more than 4 bucks per pot for the Bourns though.
