Lipstick pick-ups: pot and cap values query

I am going to install two Danelectro style 'lipstick' pick-ups on a guitar I'm modifiying.

I've found out that on vintage Danelectro guitars the pots were: 100k (volume) and 1meg (tone) on both pickups.

Why are the tone pots values so high (1meg)? That seems very high and odd, no? I thought single coil pick-ups normally have low value pots - both volume and tone.

Would I be better off to use a lower value for the tone pot than 1meg? How would lower values, like a 100k,r 200k or 500k, alter things compared to the 1meg?

I intend to use 100k the volume pot.

Plus, re: tone capacitor value. What value would be good?
On vintage Danelectro guitars the tone cap values were 0.01uf (bridge pick-up), and 0.047uf (neck pick-up). I'll be having a single vol/tone circuit for both pick-ups, though.

Advice sought, please.

Things to note:
Both of the lipsticks pick-ups I'll be using have vintage correct, low output - about 4.5k.
I shall be installing them in the middle and neck locations, so not in the more trebly bridge position.
They'll be on a shared vol/tone circuit.
I'll have another, different pick-up in the bridge position and it'll have it's own tone/vol circuit.

Thanks
