Lipstick tube pickups...please tell me all about them.

I just saw a picture of a strat with lipstick pickups in it and remembered how great and jangly they sounded in a SRV clip I saw once when he was playing Mary Had A Little Lamb! I know they're meant to be jangly but I don't know much else about them.

Can anyone describe their overall tonal qualities, general output levels, whether they sound good under gain or high-gain even. Just everything you can think ot

They're very, very low output. They sound fantastic clean and do a good job under low to med gain. They work for high gain lead, but can get mushy under high gain rythm.

I love them clean to semi dirty.
