Little lower output, little more upper mids

Than the stock Custom. I'm thinking maybe the WLH will get me there? Other suggestions?

I know the usual suggestion when it comes to the Custom is to swap magnets, but I think I've tried and found an issue with A2, UOA5, and A8.

What do you think?

i dont think the wlh is far off from what you are looking for. i find it has nice upper mids and the output is a bit more than a 59b but obviously less than the custom. its a really nice pup in the right guitar

If you want to retain the medium output, the Perpetual Burn is worth a look. It can be really fat but it still has some upper mids for cut. I love it and recently put it back in my Warmoth Strat. Neck and middle are the noiseless Classic Stack Plus. I had a WLH neck in the bridge, which works great, but I wanted a little more warmth and some more kick. The EQ of the PB works well with the Classic Stack Plus.

Just checking in here. Are we talking a JB lite? No worries either way. I will still have to analyze.

Have no personal experience with the WLH yet so I can't offer an opinion there.

+1 on the Perpetual Burn though. An underappreciated gem IMO.

Or perhaps a Hybrid with an A8?
Generally speaking, I think the A8's hyped upper midrange is one reason why many dislike it.

I had the hybrid briefly and really disliked it. It was way, way too bright in my guitar, and the lower output wasn't working for me at the time. I ordered a WLH bridge last night, so I'll see how it sounds when I get it in. That's an expensive set, which is why I'll leave the 59n right where it is for the time being.

The WLH neck is awesome. If you decide you want to go that route, I might be willing to let it go. It's zebra and the SD logo has been removed.

I may end up taking you up on that. I'm going to put covers on them anyway, so color is a bit of a moot point. If I love the bridge, I'll PM you. Thanks for the offer.
