little wing tone

I love the fourth position on my fat strat knockoff (which uses the middle and neck single coils).. does the middle or neck pickup contribute the most to this gutty and slightly quacky sound (I don't know how to describe the tone.. but it sounds like Hendrix in little wing or castles made of sand)?.. I'm converting to a HSH coil-tappable setup and I want to salvage that tone

Re: little wing tone

position 2 & 4 "QUACK" as it is called, is inpart due to two pickups wired in parallel.

The best Quack you can get is by using stock or lower DC ohm middle pickup -- and remove the tone control from the middle pups circut.

Other happy Quacker's -- Buddy Guy -- Eric Clapstick -- and that Mark Knobfler guy

Re: little wing tone

dunno.. too much to look at for me..

however a standard strat is already in parallel
