Live Wires or Classic Stacks with Clapton Mid Boost

I like the Fender Clapton mid boost, but the Vintage Noiseless pickups are just meh. Not bad, just not super.

I like Classic Stacks. How would they get along with the Clapton boost and it's 50K volune pot?

Would I be better off with LiveWire II Classics since they're active?

Re: Live Wires or Classic Stacks with Clapton Mid Boost

Several here have used the Classic Stack Plus pickups with the Clapton boost and have gotten good results. In fact, I really want to build up a new partscaster with this setup.

Also, Lee Anderton did the same thing as part of a guitar mod challenge and it seems to sound pretty good.

If you wanted to go active, there are a number of mid boosts available, notable the EMG SPC.

I am a huge Classic Stack fan, so I vote for that. I've heard it sound wonderful with a mid boost. It is a great combination, actually.

i dont believe the clapton boost is designed to work with active pups. the boost works great with classic stacks. i have a strat setup with stka4n, stks4m, stks7 and the clapton boost with a normal 250k tone control rather than the tbx which i dont care for and its a wonderful setup

Sweet! Thanks guys. Stacks it is!

pS Jeremy...how do you like the s7 bridge? I have found the s4 a little too tinny and the s6 was too mid heavy. Is the s7 a good in-between?

Re: Live Wires or Classic Stacks with Clapton Mid Boost

thats exactly why i got the s7 and i like it
