Boogeyman of Tone
Hey guys,

Just thought I'd post some things I've been playing about with.

Using just a stock US standard strat, and the drum samples that come with logic studio... amp sounds are guitar port

'Sort of Funk Rock'

and

Using a standard strat for the solo and a godin LGSP90 (has duncan custom ceramic p90s) for the rhythm... amp sounds are guitar amp pro (comes with logic), stock drums again.

'Powerballad solo' (well the guitar setting is called powerballad (mainstage setting, plus a little EQ/gain adjustments to make it suit my guitar)

If anyone is looking to record I'd definitely recommend Logic Studio. It's pretty competitively priced and you get a lot of stuff with it. I'm really happy with it and find it pretty straightforward to use. I recently got some studio monitors as well (KRK RP6s - they sounded the best in my price range) and am still getting used to them so I don't know how the mixes will be like for bass etc. Unfortunately nice speakers don't make you a better producer though I guess they'll help haha...

Logic and the KRKs has pretty much completed my electric guitar recording setup, between guitar port and guitaramp/bassamp pro (The bundled modelling software in logic) I'm finding I can get nearly any tone I want... my living arrangements mean I can't really use an amp at all, so the only one I have these days is a Roland Microcube incase I want to jam at a friend's house.

Hope everyone I remember from the boards is well

- Max

Hey Boogeyman!

This is great stuff. Sounds like great theme music. You should make that into a full format tune - with a theme, improv, theme, bridge.

Great tones.

I love that rhythm track you have opening the tune too. Some neat stereo panning work going on also.

Cheers. I'm happy with the tones too but the lead is a little loud on the funky one.

I assume you're talking about the 'powerballad' one? Yeah it's part of a piece I've sort of half written and got stuck with. I was sort of imagining the rest of it with vocals, but never really came up with a drum beat to compliment the chords I came up with... so it's currently a work in progress. Drums are the hardest thing to do!

Cheers for listening.

Heya!!!
The first clip sounds pretty cool! I didn't like the drum tones and drumming ,but that's totally subjective. I like the riff!
The second clip is better in tone and mix ,but drums still sucks LOL.
Nice to hear from you again!

Cheers for listening.

Yeah the drums aren't amazing. A) I'm rubbish at programming them, and B) Logic seems to be missing *the* kit for the stuff I do. It has good sounds for pop stuff, and good sounds for electronic stuff, but no kit that has a snare and toms I'm happy with for more rocky/alternate stuff. One day I'll get some other drum programme but its not a priority right now. Even if I drop good money on a cool drum package I still won't be any better at programming them... haha

Well you are right. EZ drummer was a great bang for the buck ,and addictive drums have very well made loops.
I have the superior 2 now ,but yet have to test it. My PhD is pushing my limits hard now ,so no time to record anything. And i am waiting for my new guitar with sweaty palms
