What's going on, guys? Its been a while since I checked in.
I actually got a new job a few months ago. I'm now working as a legal assistant in a large law firm, and due to that, I've got noticeably more spending money. So I decided to treat myself to a few things.
I just picked up this bad boy earlier this week:
It's an Earcandy Buzzbomb. I got it to pair with my Bassman.
I've wanted one of these things forever, and a good deal finally came up. Obviously it doesn't have speakers yet, but I'll be getting some soon - probably after I get new speakers for my second most recent purchase...
One of the old Mesa half back cabs. I've been too busy to use it since I picked it up about two weeks ago, but it looks amazing with my Mesa Mark IIB Coliseum.
I'm planning on getting a pair of EVM12L clones (Eminence's take on the speaker are less than half the price of a real EV) to replace the Vintage Black Shadows in the bottom. Considering that those are 50w compared to the 200 of an EV type, and that I'm running a 180W amp and I don't want speaker breakup, I think EVs will be perfect for me.
Speaking of high efficiency speakers, my other purchase:
Part of the reason I got my job was that I said I could play bass in the company band. Well I can technically play bass, but at the time I had no bass gear. So a few months ago I went out and got this rig. The head is a TC BH550, and the cabs are Bergantino - a 2x10 and a 1x12, each with their own tweeters. As much as I like the amp, the cabs are the real star here. The speakers are neodymium, and the cabs weigh 33 and 28lbs, making it extremely easy to transport. But more importantly, they THUMP. These are the loudest cabs I've ever heard in this size - they can keep up with an Ampeg 6x10, and probably even an 8x10, with ease. I love them so much.
