Look At The Grain On This Ash.....

Re: Look At The Grain On This Ash.....

Cripes.....I caved an bought it. :smack:

Now I just need to find someplace or someone to finish it for a reasonable price. I'm thinking perhaps a nice blue dye...so I can join the blue strat club around here. Will Warmoth finish stuff they don't sell?

The grain on that was too unique to pass up. I checked the Ash bodies at Warmoth and USA guitars...and none had the grain pattern this beauty had.

I hate being impulsive sometimes.....but I'll get over it.

That's going to be a beauty Jeff. I think you should leave it natural though. Might look good that way. Either way though, it's going to be NICE. :)

Nice buy - I think a blue would look nice accenting that grain

Re: Look At The Grain On This Ash.....

Looks like Roxy has the best prices on translucent and dye finishes. What is the differnence between translucent and dye anyhow? I'm thinking blue, green, or perhaps amber...I'll have time to decide.

I'll put Callaham hardware on it, probably parchment or mint green guard, and possibly APS's neck and mid. Bridge I haven't decided on yet. Something hotter, but still vintage. I've got a neck I bought from Brisk...ervana compensating nut. I'll throw on some locking Schallers and see how I like it.

Can't wait to get it and see if it's as pretty in person. It should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. Priority mail from Jersey to NC shouldn't take more than 2 days!

Jeff,

You have been naughty again - temptation is getting in the way!!. You really should'nt have but what the heck you only young once - live dangerously:saeek:

As for colours - it is always difficult what would go well with an ash body, my instinct says amber or even a cherry burst would look nice but perhaps you want a different colour to the hardtail? Perhaps a nice butterscotch or natural finish to show off that ash body. Won't be long for you to wait and see what that body is like and then you can narrow the choice down.

Good luck buddy

Norman
