Look at this distortion preamp I "made"!

Basically, in the back of the box there are 3 jacks. I plug a normal instrument cord into each of the jacks, and plug the other end of that cord into a special pedal I made. The pedal is just 3 switches, each simply attaches the tip of the guitar cord, to the ground(sleeve). In the distortion box, the 3 jacks are wired so that when the tip of each cord is grounded, it turns on the corresponding channel. This type of wiring allows me to have minimal stuff out on the ground while playing. It's very organized.

sweeeeeeeeeeeet. :)

I've thought of doing the same thing before, only doing it easier by making a big stompbox. How come you decided on a rack unit with a footswitch?

i have a 4 channel logic board that can help to clean up the switching for you (will work perfectly for 3 channels). let me know.

You are a madman. Questions - how did you go about isolating the DC supplies (hard to tell from the photo)? One big DC or do yuo run 3 wallwarts to this thing?

Also - no ground loops with that footpedal arrangement? Not bad!

I am probably not the only one interested to see a schem of the input/output wiring....

Can´t see the pic.. but I WANT ONE.... Lemme know if you wanna build another ;)

It's purely for portability and organization. This way, I just hook the amps up to my rack, and put my MIDI controller on the ground. I used to have to plug in the rack, blug all teh pedals into the rack, then plug the controller into the pedals and the rack. I'm just a huge fan of really clean rigs.

The box runs on AC power. Since the MESA V-twins run on this, that's the easiest way. Then, The AC power is fed through a tranformer that allows the V-twin to use it, then the 9V DC power is tapped off of the V-twin's rectified 9V power. Each DC power isn't isolated from eachother though... no ground loop hum though so, I'm happy. The input and output wiring alone would take forever to schem out... for me anyway... haha :laugh2:
