Bless his lil pea-pickin' heart. (Internet pic, but mine looks the same.)

It's a Yamaha Fifty 410 combo. Circa late 70's, early 80's. My research says that this is Yamaha's take of the old Fender Bassman. Everyone says it's killer "clean", but its built-in distortion sucks. I can fix that. ;)

This has problems, but they're all electronic. I can fix that too.

Thanks Rand-O. I need to get you drunk more often. (J/K) :D

Btw, we had fun Saturday afternoon. :)

At one of the old rehearsal rooms with one of my old bands, there was a 2x12" combo from that series...sounded pretty good.
Used it live as well a few times.

Re: Look what forum bro Rand-O just gave me.

Yeah, there's a G50-112, G50-212, and G50-410 in this series. The official model number on the backplate is G50-410. The front logo says "Fifty 410". I believe they all have the same basic amp.

Edit: Wow. This thing was actually made in Hamamatsu Japan. Even cooler.

Nice man. I used a 212 combo from that series for a while when I was a bit broke. Ended up getting a real twin and compared them when I had more to spend. It wasn't a bad clone at all for the $125 I spent on mine. I wish I still had the amp some days haha

So many of the on-line comments about this amp are in the spirit of: "I wished I hadn't sold it."

Re: Look what forum bro Rand-O just gave me.

When I was 14, a neighbor my age had one of those and black 79 strat like Edge's.

It was the first time I tried out a clean vintage strat tone. It must have stuck with me, because it's always been my tone half the time, when it's not Gibson/Marshall.

Cool. This might be it. :)

Btw, this thing is seriously heavy. Right at the threshold of what I can lift. Had a heckuva time getting it into the house.

Re: Look what forum bro Rand-O just gave me.

I recently came across a 100-watt 4-12 version of that amp in a music store near here. Shoulda bought it... talk about cheap, clean power. What a beast.

Re: Look what forum bro Rand-O just gave me.

Hope you can get it sorted out,& sorry 'bout the weight thing,I didn't know...
Mebbe shoulda hit Harbor Freight & got a dolly...
:)

Looking forward to the progress, tho,it was able to pass a signal the only time I tried it,but teh pots were all scratchy.
May wanna leave the grill on if/when you get it up & running,too,other-wise might have quite the speaker confetti mess to clean up...

Gonna keep the thread bumped?

And again,Thanx for coming by,we should do it more often!!!
& actually get to play!
:D

On of the clubs in Boston had the same thing in their house backline. It got the job done. Loud and clean, filled the room with guitar.

Re: Look what forum bro Rand-O just gave me.

We'll hook up later this week and I'll get on it. ;)

Re: Look what forum bro Rand-O just gave me.

Wow, I'd love to hear it, once your mods are done!

It will be a slow process. As I look this thing over, I realize these are forty-something year old caps. I'll probably replace them all.
