Looking at Tonex

I sold off the Iridium. It just was not getting it done. The Tonex stuff looks like it might be a better solution. It would be for a live direct to FOH solution.. The handful of sounds i have heard were good to great. The onboard effects are a nice touch and combined with the HX One should make for a very compact and light weight solution. I might also add a tonex one to model some stop boxes and double as a backup rig right on the board.

So, I am asking users of the Tonex stuff if they have had any issues with the gear or the app I might need to know about.

Plan B is a Boss IR-200. I like that unit too but it obviously does not have the flexibility of the Tonex stuff

a friend on mine uses tonex and he likes it, i have not heard it in person to judge for myself though

My bandmate has a tonex and it seems he likes it but he doesn't get mad, Ive never seen him messing with the app

I saw a video where Gus G. was showing it off as his “amp” on tour. If it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for any of us.

I don't like being dependent on an app, software gets old too soon, I like thinking I can use my stuff after fashion changes and computer stuff gets unusable. These products are a good commercial hook for people, you can't use anymore this thing you got used to? Buy my new stuff, etc.
No, I don't want to play this game, my g.a.s. is already more than enough

Also, some apps are just terrible. 3rd party apps charge too much. If I can't get to all the settings from the front panel, I am less likely to buy it.

What are you referring to? I have used IK stuff for years
Seemingly outrageous "sales" that only cover part of their ecosystem designed to get you to buy other parts for the really high full price as well as being intentionally ambiguous as to overlap in their softwares so that you risk buying the same thing multiple times.

They are by no means the worst company to deal with, but I'd rather not.

Well, with the current sales and gift cards, its never going to be cheaper to get into the Tonex game. It was kind of a toss up between the Boss IR-200 and the Tonex. The Tonex should be more adaptable to new sounds going forward and is midi controllable. Those two points were basically the tipping point. So between the Tonex and the HX One I should have a pretty powerful live setup.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. They pull this sort of thing all the time to get you to impulse buy. I guarantee you they will have at least 3 sales just as crazy as this one by the end of the year

For example, I just checked and I have an IK Multimedia library "worth" $5000 that I'm never going to use from them that cost me $0. My buddy let me use the serial number off his Tonex to get in on the Buy One Get 49 promo they did a while ago

So what? You act like a sale is a new concept. Would you feel better if I waited for the next one? Why aren't you bitching about BOSS and everyone else that that a holiday sale? What's the sense in buying at full price? I would have paid the same or more for anything else that does the DI amp thing. I was ready to buy now. I need a DI solution and I selected what was the best fit. There was nothing impulsive about it. Quite the opposite in fact. I waited for the price to be as low as possible. Let go of that tree your strangling friend.....

I also hopped on the 1 for 49 group buy. I bought 3 things for something in the ballpark of 500 bucks and now I have literally their entire software suite. I don't know how much it costs to piece meal it, but I have about 130 pieces of software and each one sells for a minimum of $50 without a sale.

In my book it's kind of like when furniture stores will inflate their prices all year and then every quarter or so sell things for half off. Kinda scummy, but that's the way it is.
