i am looking to a bridge humbucker that has characteristics between a 59 and screamin' demon. the 59 has been my bridge pickup of choice in my mexican strat for years and i like the screamin demon but it has slightly too much treble with my setup. what duncan pickup would you guys recommend? (btw, i have tried a pearly gates and it was a bit on the trebly side too).

Try the Screamin Demon with 12 fillister screws. It should round off the highs a bit.

Less highs and it brings up the mids big time. It sounds great!

Demon with an A2 would probabaly fill the bill for you... or an EVH might be the trick!

+1 I've tried this and it gives smoother highs, increased mids, and slightly looser bass (but still tight).

Yes this something i've got to try ; the Demon should be darker with all slotted screws , and a bit less tight but for the Demon that's not a problem .

So you say that it brings more mids ?

I'm surprised that Bach didn't suggest trying a Demon '59 hybrid. Maybe he treid it and it wasn't so great?

The parallel axis patb-3 blues saraceno IS your answer!!! it's the perfect pickup in between the '59b & the demon.i have the patb-3 in my '91 ibanez rg565-basswood body, all maple neck/fretboard.i had the demon in it first, but thought the highs were too harsh.then i put the 59b in it and that was pretty darn good, but wanted a slightly hotter pup to bring out some more crunch & better harmonics(kinda like the demon has).then, after reading some older threads on the patb-3,i bought one used off ebay.it was THE ONE! it's been in the guitar for 3-4 months now and will probably never be replaced.damn near perfect.do a search on the patb-3 in these threads.i wrote a detailed description about it after i installed it and had a few weeks to thoroughly play it.killer pup!!! does anything from blues to rock to metal(80's and thrash/speed)with ease.yep, that good.the only thing about it is the different look to it.i love my patb-3 and really recommend it for a floyd-rose equipped axe.oh yeah, the duncan tone chart specs show the e.q. as being: bass=6 mids=3 treble=6. i slightly disagree.to my ears,it sounds like: bass=6 mids=4 treble=7...............otherwise,it IS right between the '59b and the demon!!!
