Looking for a bright, glassy, neck humbucker......

I currently have a 59' in the neck of my strat and have found that its not the sound I'm looking for. I'm wondering if maybe the Jazz neck would be more suitable for my taste. I want a neck pickup thats got a glassy, dry, bright tone to it. The 59' is just to bassy for what I want out of a neck pickup. Would the jazz achieve the tone im looking for? If not, any recommendations?

It sounds to me like the Jazz is exactly what you're looking for. I would definitely descrive it as being clear and glassy. Definitely not as bassy as a 59.

Re: Looking for a bright, glassy, neck humbucker......

The Jazz is the glassiest I've tried as well.

For more of a single coil type glassy with a really chimey clean sound go for the Humbucker From Hell.

Well saied, The Jazz neck and Humbucker from hell are the first, what comes in my mind.
The Jazz neck is a bit similar to the 59, but open the high frequencies, which the 59 cuts off.
The Humbucker from hell is even more glassy and more open.
Compared to the Jazz, the jazz is a bit rounder.
I would say both pickups are somewhere between single-coil and vintage humbucker, the Jazz closer to PAf and the HfH closer to single coil.

Whats even better than a humbucker from hell and a jazz for a bright glassy sound would be a Bill Lawrence L-500C. I have played them all and by far I think the L-500C is brighter and glassier than the two before mentioned pickups and thus has the best tone when it comes to bright glassy sounds in the neck. I belive it also has more sweetness to it. Not steile what so ever. You may also want to consider the Dimarzio EJ custom. Looking at their tone chart it should be even better than the humbucker from hell.

yup, the Humbucker From Hell is a pretty glassy, open pup. very single coil-like, except hum-cancelling. here is a clip for ya, using the plexi model on my POD. see what you think. its in a swamp ash guitar with the tone knob at about 7 or 8 and the volume at full. hope this helps.http://www.soundclick.com/bands/3/clint41music.htm

That's some nice tone going on in that clip....what a cool pickup:)

Re: Looking for a bright, glassy, neck humbucker......

+1 for the Jazz. I really like it in my LP, and it did take away that bassy sound you are talking about.

Bright...Jazz...Glassy...Jazz...Neck pickup...Hey, they got a SH-2 neck model! Looks like your set!!

Re: Looking for a bright, glassy, neck humbucker......

Try the Dimarzio HS-2. You'll have to change out the pickguard to accommodate the size.
