Looking for a good neck pup for tele

I have an alnicoII pro in the bridge and I'm looking for something that would complement it. I like using the neck pickup but in my tele its weak but I like the sound. My lead is overpowering my neck. I guess what I'm saying is that I want a neck pup with some oomph to play some blues with. Any suggestions? Also it seems like from reading on here that a lot of guys like the JD's for the tele. should I dump the a2pro for one of those, or is there alot of tonal difference between the two. I have an alder h1 tele with a maple neck btw. thanks.

Re: Looking for a good neck pup for tele

I just order a Duncan STR-1. I have high hopes because I've never bought a Duncan PU that I didn't like. The STR-1 is a vintage design so it is not a high output pickup. I find the hotter pickups lack the high end sparkle that the lower output pickups have. Lower output PU's seem to have a clearer attack and better note defintion when distorted and more twang when clean. Anyways I will comment on the STR-1 once it is installed and compare it to the stock american pickups.

Ok, I'll give this a shot ....

someone else here used to recommend the Antiquity neck all the time, and I agree it's a great sounding pickup, especially for a stock tele

I do like the vintage rhythm more and more, but the Ant is cooler, and sounds great cranked

IMO, teles are really prone to balance issues between the neck and bridge pickup .. that's something I'm still working on ...
