Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

TwilightOdyssey

Title says it all. Am looking for a good full-size volume (not volume/wah) pedal or a swell pedal. Like the VFE Bumblebee, but do not want compression.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

Aren't Ernie Ball volume pedals the go to pedal? I have a Dunlop that looks just like a Wah. I used it a few times but I find it better to just use the volume knob on my guitar.

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

I always straight up loved my morley little alligator. the minimum volume feature on it completely ruined me on any volume pedal that doesnt have it.

Like i said, love it, think it sounds great and you you can use it from massive volume swells up to very accurate control between clean and dirty

He said he wasn't looking for a wah shell type pedal.

meh, the idea of a volume swell pedal that you dont control with your foot is complete crap to me

I think it could be cool - an envelope swell.

OH, that reminds me - I think Pigtronix might make something like what you're looking for.

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

I use the auto volume echo on my M9 to do this very thing. I had an Ernie Ball VP Jr. for a few months and just sold it because it never got used. Having the swell done automagically for me without having to use a pedal or my volume knob is convenient.

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

From my understanding he just doesn't want a combined volume/wah, but a dedicated one.

I really like my Boss FV500.

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

I've owned 2 Volume Pedals.

I had the Morley Lil aligator and hated it. If you turned the volume control halfway up or more and had the wah in the up (off) position, sound still leaked through.

The best volume pedal out there hands down is the Ernie Ball. EBVP is the industry standard in that aspect. It's great. SImple. No power source needed. Size of a wah. Works amazingly well.

It can be had used for around $50.

Awesome with delay and various efx for swells. Awesome for doing a subtle fade in/fade out. Awesome for backing off a little and trailing off in the mix when you don't NEED to be the present one. Awesome for the fact it's foot controlled, meaning you can keep your guitar controls set as is (b/c if your like me, there's some songs that you're flipping the toggle switch back and forth and adjusting the controls and the last thing you need to do is tweak the controls even more when it's on you to carry the song). Simply put, Simply awesome.

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

Look man, if you don't pick up an Ernie Ball Volume Pedal (I prefer the JR) a puppy somewhere dies and trust me you don't want that on your conscious.

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

Ernie Ball Vp Jr...i can't imagine a volume pedal being any better!?

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

EBVP Jr.

I have tried a few different ones... from Fender to Morley etc.

The Ernie Ball has beaten them all... just a really nice clean sweep....

Ha, noted. (I am in need of several more pelts for my puppy loafers, however)

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

I've had a Boss FV-50 stereo vol pedal for several years now. It works perfectly, I've never had any kind of problem with it, and it has a minimum vol setting control. I run two amps and this controls both perfectly. Boss make a mono pedal as well.

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

The boss Slow Gear!

Ill build you one if i can ever find the damn schematic again as i want to build one for myself too.

Re: Looking for a good volume or swell pedal

It's probably not the best suggestion, but BYOC makes a pedal kit called the Lazy Sprocket that is a SG1 clone. But of course you would have to build it.
