I'm having trouble finding a high gain overdrive pedal and would like to hear some options out there. before anything is said i do not want a distortion pedal. i want a pedal to push my high gain amp to an even higher gain. one im considering is a zakk wylde overdrive. again im looking for a high gain overdrive almost distortion like but not a distotion. pedal has to have loads of gain but i cant stress enough that i dont want a distortion pedal. thanks!

The Visual Sounds Rt808 has a great range of overdrive gain. It is a nice sleeper pedal. Great sound, good build quality, and a low price.
You might get a few more responses if this is in the amp forum. I'm sure a mod will come along and move it for you.

You might want to consider a boost pedal. It will slam the front end of your amp and might be exactly what you are looking for.
I have a Maxon ROD-881. It is a Tubes Screamer, a distortion pedal and a boost pedal built in to one tube powered pedal. It covers a lot of ground and would be perfect. They cost over $300 new but have been going for cheap on the used market. I would look for one.

yeah the zakk is good. But i like the GTOD even more for kicking by marshall in the pants...the good news is they are both really the same pedal....
....theres a mini toggle switch inside it if you pull it apart....one way is the zakk, one way is the gt. So really all you have to choose is the casing!
The other pedal i really like for smacking a preamp is the fulltone fulldrive.
Theres heaps more, but bang for buck the mxr ones are top shelf. Pretty well on par sound wise with the fulldrive, but less features etc.

Try that new-ish yellow one from Visual sound, cannot recall the name. It was purposefully built to be neutral/backed off on the mids. They make good stuff.
I think Blackstar makes a high gain tube overdrive (not a distortion, though they have those too) too.
That said, I'd just go with a clean boost of some sort, and really ride the crap out of your already existing gain stages.
