Re: Looking for a new Echo Delay...

I was kinda hoping you'd get the new seymour duncan delay so we could read one of your awesome reviews on it!

And don't think your age is preventing you from learning a complicated delay pedal - it's your common sense! Complicated delay pedals are great for tweakability, but during live shows it's pretty much tap tempo - Honestly I don't understand why some delay pedals have preset delay times - even if you were playing to a backing track it would be kinda difficult to set the delay time before the show, and then sync it up perfectly mid-song...

But what do I know? Nuthing lebowski, we believe in nothing.

Re: Looking for a new Echo Delay...

Not sure why the DL-4 is so complicated??? you can dial out the volumes on it and pretty much set your times with the tap to give you that far away sound. I thought it was a bit of a tone-sucker for me and that's why I sold it, but it had nice features, and 3 presets which is about all you need for a gig. I used a quick dotted 1/8, a longer for stupid solos and the swell for that nice ambient texture.

I'm looking at a Carbon Copy v2 and when I've demo'd it, it's been extremely quiet with no harshness-just saving money at this point-I wish it had a tap tempo. Maybe I'll get 2.

Mincer uses a DL-4 a lot and I'm sure he could help you out.

Re: Looking for a new Echo Delay...

Lew, I hope you enjoy your DMM as much as I enjoy mine. It sounds so natural and warm. I can't imagine not having it.

Great choice on the DMM. I've got to say though, of all my delays, the Echo Park is always in the chain. The others come out for specialty uses.

Any quick links to the Duncan Delay?

Re: Looking for a new Echo Delay...

if you like the L6 dl4, try the Lg echo park...its a stomp box size version with a few less models...same size as a boss pedal...

The Echo Park is also HORRIBLY noisey and is by far the noisiest delay I have ever tried!! I have owned 2 and both sounded great in an effects loop but were absolutely unusable in front of the amp due to the noise. In bypass both had a wierd ringing SKONK that you could hear in the background as the light pulsed + unleashed a waterfall of white noise!
I have a Boss DD-7 and a DanEcho both are usable and QUIET!
The Boss has more features but the Dano is warmer and has the better tone.

Were you by any chance powering it by something that doesn’t have isolated outputs?

The Echo Park isn't actually a noisy pedal under the right circumstances, it just needs either it’s own power supply, or needs to be run from an isolated unit like a VL Pedal Power etc.

If you were daisychaining it from a One Spot, Powerall or similar, or from a supply without isolated outputs (like a Dunlop DC Brick) then that was your problem.

The Verbzilla and Space Chorus (and possibly other ToneCore pedals) all share this same issue - they absolutely will not share power with anything else without making a lot of noise.

Re: Looking for a new Echo Delay...

Thanks Guys! Just got notice that the Memory Man should be here early next week. I'll compare the two (Line 6 DL4 and the Memory Man) and do a little review of how they compare.

What sold me on it was the recommendations from you guys, the You Tube video demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fosr3B0p79A and the fact that Eric Johnson and the Edge use it.

Thanks again!
