Looking for a sh*tty sounding lo-fi delay...

I'm looking for something with relatively short delay times...and the crappier it sounds (without being excessively noisy), the better.

At your next gig, get a drunk buddy to stand off to the side behind a microphone, and try to mimic the delay with his mouth...a guaranteed cheap and horrible-sounding delay :bigok:

Sounds like the DOD delay I used to have would fit the bill?

Re: Looking for a sh*tty sounding lo-fi delay...

Seems like MXR made some relatively lo-fi echo boxes for a time, DODs weren't much of an improvement. If it doesn't have to be a floor unit, you might see if you can find an old Lexicon Junior by (I think) Delta Lab. They have a fairly decent echo response and maybe 2 seconds of delay at best.

Re: Looking for a sh*tty sounding lo-fi delay...

Are you going to be doing some noise/garage-rock?

Re: Looking for a sh*tty sounding lo-fi delay...

Can Someone explain what the words lo-fi and hi-fi mean?

Re: Looking for a sh*tty sounding lo-fi delay...

Z-Vex makes a great delay/looper desiged to fully distinguish between your playing and the echo.

Re: Looking for a sh*tty sounding lo-fi delay...

That Zvex rocks. but its really expensive for something that sounds like crap (in a good way).

This should have been the first recommendation!

Isn't that thing basically a modified answering machine?

Besides...I'm not too interested in spending alot of cash on something that is meant to sound bad when I can do something similar with a $30 DOD with the trim pot cranked.

may i ask why?

Punk....all my effects are pretty clean sounding, I'm looking for something nasty for solos and feedback.

That happened at my gig Saturday Night. This drunk guy was standing right next to the stage and doing his best to sing some Sjynyrd, but he was singing the verses right before I was. Kinda like a drunken prompter!! He did that like a month ago, and it was irritating, but this week my head was pounding, so I appreciated the support. I think if he would have hollered "My momma boned me" instead "My Momma told me" I would have sung the new version a la Budweiser!

Seriously though, what of those $25 effects listed in MF's catalog?

Never heard them, since you are looking for cheap sounding effects, I bet for $25 you can't go wrong!

I believe the Line6 DL-4 and Echo Pro have adjustable settings from 8-bit (low fi) to 24-bit (hi fi).

Anything by Rocktek. Preferable late 80's vintage.
