The old Korg AX1G mini sized multi-fx boxes had a an awesome talk effect if you can find one used. Should'nt be more than $50 or so. Will give you the same tone/effect that was all over Scorpions "Crazy World".

Would something like the Boss Dynamic Wah work? There are also reissues of the Mutron III effect. And Rocktron has a talk box, with a tube, but the effect outputs through your amp, so you don't need to go through a mic.

You can make one for pretty cheap. You just need some smallish practice amp (a Roland cube would work great), put it in a sealed box, run some tubing out of the box up a microphone stand, do the mouth motions into the mic, and the mic goes out to the front. That's the most quickest method that you can make with stuff you probably already have. If its only for one song, I don't really see spending a whole lot on a talkbox effect. If it seems like too much trouble (soundguys might oppose the idea), I'd just go with a very vocal sounding wah (your 535Q should be fine).

IMO, no. This BOSS does pick attack sensitive auto wah. It does treadle wah whenever an Expression pedal is connected. Even with the very finest pick control technique, the pedal does not "shape" the notes as a talk box can.

Thats what I figured. I was thinking he MIGHT be able to fake that song with an autowah. I have the MXR Talkbox it is fantastic. It is a pain to setup but if you are going to do it do it right.

You're not gonna get the tone without the gear. Joe Walsh and Mick Mars were ok with it. Just get your buzz going first.

The rocktron Banshee is a real talkbox in a pedal format but it has its own internal amplifier unlike the old Heil units which were really just a speaker that needed to be driven by a separate guitar amp. The banshee does everything the old units did but it is small and easy. You wont get a real talkbox sound without a tube im afraid, so this one is a good option.
