I'd say you might want something with wider pole magnets, like the Quarter Pound or the RioGrande Muy Grande.
Rio also makes a P90-sounding pickup to fit the standard Tele neck cutout; they call it the Dirty Harry.
I haven't owned the Dirty Harry but my Muy Grande is fat & sweet, with better clarity than the QP which is much hotter.
I really like the Muy Grandes. They're big and tight and still recognizably Tele in character.
The Quarter Pounds are edging towards P90 territory - nice and beefy, but no longer pure Tele.
I was just checking out Rio Grande, and I think I'm going to give the Muy Grande a shot.
harmonic design vintage plus is another.
Do some research. There are very few that do not like/love them.
They are another p90 type like the muy grande.
The difference is that they never sound overwound.
You get more bass and mids, and an overall balanced tone. it makes the middle position very usable.
They are also some of the quietest regular single coils.
If you go this route, you will end up getting the bridge pickup too.
They are the only pickups i tried in my tele when i built it 22 years ago. They sounded so good that i never had the need to look elsewhere.
The neck pickup is, and has been my favorite neck tone for the past 20 years
The fender Tex mex tele pickups… they’re not really sexy to name-drop, but I really like the neck pickup. The bridge model is pretty good. Not perfect, but it’s alright. The neck Tex mex, I like. Here are some I have used that I would consider to be warm.
1. Alnico 2 Pro (APTR-1)
2. Fender Custom Shop Nocaster
3. Fender Deluxe Drive
4. Fender Tex Mex
