Looking for a tone

I've been playing for a year now with my v-amp plugged on my hifi. By trying to find different combinations simulation and cabinet, I found myself coming back regularly on the 1x12" blackface cab (no 5) whatever the simulation was.

I like the sparkling it gives to the clean sound and it's actually not bad at all for vintage distortion.

Does anybody know what kind of speakers it could be similar to? What kind of amp use these speakers or is close to this sound?

I am currently starting a hunt for a tube amp, so any piece of advice would be welcome.

Cheers :beerchug:

I can't really answer your question, but it's funny . . . I have a Johnson J-Station. It has all these sound effects, amp models, cabinet models, reverb, compression, etc., etc.

It spends 99% of its time with all effects off, on the Black Face, 1x12 cab. :laugh2:

There's just something about that sound. ;)

My guess is that it's modeled after the same speakers in my 212 cab for my Blackface Fender 75. They're (to be honest) not a terribly amazing speaker, but they work great at the purpose for which they were used. It's a very focused and tight sound. I understand your attraction to that setting.
