Looking for a vintage sound, gotta get rid of old pick-up

I play a Fender Strat, simple enough. My bridge pick-up is a Seymour Duncan Livewire 18 volt active strat pick-up. It has a great rockin' sound and VERY hot.

I want a more vintage sound from my strat. :13: I am considering an SD Alnico II Pro Staggered strat pick-up as my new neck pick-up. I am also considering ordering the Alnico in the reverse polarity option for a more Hendrix type sound...

ALSO... I'm not quite sure what I should do with the Livewire once I get it out... I could try and use as a trade in towards the Alnico at my guitar shop, or try eBay or anything else, so if someone could help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Tell me what you think, and if you think the reverse polarity option is worth it.

Thank you, (just another loyal seymour duncan user)

Reverse Polarity/Reverse Wound doesn't make a pickup sound differant. It's used to make a pickup humcancelling when it's combined with a pickup that is NOT Reverse Polarity/Reverse Wound. The APS-2 is a nice single coil pickup though. A little bit thicker and chunkier and not as glassy bright sounding as the alnico 5 staggered pole pickups Hendrix used...but if you have the chops it'll do a decent Hendrix tone. Lew

Thanks Lew,

I'll go down to the guitar shop and see I can't find me a nice Alnico pro 2.

Rock On.

If you can't find it locally I do have a few in stock. PM me if you need one. Thanks, Lew
