Looking for an AB/Y with independent volume

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
I would like an AB/Y box with adjustable volume/output on the A and B.

Acoustic 1 = A
Acoustic + volume bump = B

I can always toss a boost in, or boost + AB/Y, but I want to be able to A/B switch fast and less pedals is less at this point. No bending over and plugging etc...

Re: Looking for an AB/Y with independent volume

Dunno if that exists. Radial doesn't make one, and they are the go-to for stuff like this...

Re: Looking for an AB/Y with independent volume

Never seen anything like that.

Voodoo Lab makes a 4 channel amp switcher with volumes on each channel but thats likely overkill for your needs.

Why not just use a standard ABY box and an outboard boost pedal??

Re: Looking for an AB/Y with independent volume

Hey Ace, I've got one of the Voodoo 4 way switchers if that's what you're looking for. I'll sell it since I've not used it in a long time. It's not just a 4 way switcher. You can use it as a 2 in 2 out setup as well. It can be setup to do quite a bit more than your average amp switcher as well. If you're interested, hit me up.

Re: Looking for an AB/Y with independent volume

I may end up having to go the switcher + boost route. It's always been an option.

Just wanted to keep it lean on the board.

Thanks guys. I let you know 9 fingers - but don't expect I'll want it. But who knows...

The only thing/pedal that I know of that comes close to what you want/need is a Pigtronix Keymaster...... but it may be overkill and not exactly what you are looking for.

Still the independent volume boost is an issue although this unit has boost on both the input and output stage, it is not independent, unless you use the individual loops with boost pedals.

Why can't you just set your volume control on your guitar a little lower and raise it when you need to?

Ahhh! Important detail deleted:

I want to switch between an Ovation and a 12str with a Duncan Woody. No volume control!

I also do not want to mess with the mix.

Re: Looking for an AB/Y with independent volume

what about a morley ABY and a Volume pedal?

I like that

I just got the Morley on Amazingon for $59

Re: Looking for an AB/Y with independent volume

Morley switchers have a high tone suck factor, IMO.

My Acoustic Board has an extremely high "Make a 2x4 sound like a Vintage D-28" Factor. I can handle tone suck. It's not like an Ovation Celebrity is sending Tone in the first place...can't suck what isn't there.

If you're not real handy with a soldering iron this may not be a good option but wouldn't it be easy enough to wire a 100k log audio taper to each out you want control over and preset them to your taste?

If you already had a morley aby box or something similar it'd be dirt simple. I've done it with basic A/B boxes before. Had a similar situation where one guitar was a tad louder than the other. Solved the problem well enough.

Re: Looking for an AB/Y with independent volume

Super easy to make one. Get a regular A/B (or make one) and slip something like an EMG Afterburner or Duncan Firestorm in-line with one side. Passive A/B boxes have a ton of room inside. I have made several like this, where they have buffers or boosts in them to even out the levels.

Re: Looking for an AB/Y with independent volume

Doesn't one of the outputs need to be transformer isolated in order to avoid a ground loop? The German made Lehle stuff is top of the line, they make a pretty nice splitter pedal. I've been using the P-Split for a while and it is just perfect... no more ground loops and the horrible noise that it imparts. Of course, Canada makes some good stuff with the Radial AB/Y too... similar price with the Lehle stuff.

Between Canadian or German... I usually choose German but that's just me.
