Looking for an Amp

Re: Looking for an Amp

There should be a support group for men addicted to crazy women
A place where you could go trade stories bout crazy exs
Have people you could talk to about the experience

Crazy chicks would troll round outside waiting for the meetings to let out

Used to have them

Then someone started letting the women in
And now Ace occasionally plays gigs there

A lot of our fans are somebodies crazy ex...

And since I announced in the Guitar room, I'll cover it here too.

I'm waiting on delivery of the amp. In the meantime, I have begun work on the Epic guitar. I plan on doing a guitar / amp / Duncan pup reveal. I'm going to see if Steve Dallas will do the vid...

Re: Looking for an Amp

On a budget? Grab a Bugera BC-30 2x12 -- might be a little underpowered. Rehearsals? I use mine on the 15 watt setting (it's 15/30 switchable) and it has an effects loop for both channels, so I can run two guitars and two pedal chains ... depending. Tube driven 30 watts is pretty stinkin loud, man.

These retailed originally at about $900. You can pick good ones up for $300-400. I paid $200 on a closeout from Amazon about 4 years ago.

Aside from the EL84 power sections, the amp is tube rectified ... which adds something to the distortion quality in my opinion. Turn the channel gain way up and work with the main to get the breakup you want -- then add effects. To get a tube rectifier these days you have to go way upscale. Mesa, Matchless...

I'm just saying, if you really pay attention to tone. If loud is all you need, ignore me.

Re: Looking for an Amp

I know I'm chiming in a little late, and I forget if you have a budget, but I was browsing gear online earlier and if I wanted an amp with multiple channels of gain, I'd absolutely consider an ENGL.

No - but I am seriously on the verge of getting another Studio Pro. I love that amp.

By the way - the beast has arrived! And it is glorious!!!!!!!!! All loud and toney....have to dial it in now. Not that just turning it on and plugging in doesn't work.

Re: Looking for an Amp

At this point, it better be an SL-X. That would be epic (since I own an SL-X half stack since back in the day)
