Looking for an odd guitar (KORN)

I remember seeing a magazine cover a while ago that had KORN on it, it was after they were big enough that they got custom Ibanez guitars, but before Head quit. Anyway, I think it was Munky's guitar, I remember it being a red Ibanex 7-string with a single white humbucker, I think it hd no guard, white Ibanez logo and something told me a white bridge.

Anyway, I know it's a shot in the dark, especially around here, but does anyone remember this guiitar, and by any chance do you have a link or the magazine? I just want to see the guitar to see if it was as cool looking as I remember or if time has warped my memory...

i'm pretty sure their signature ibanezesez were all black with black everything but i dunno. did you try google?

EDIT: i just tried it and this is seriously i can find:
k7.jpg

which is just an all-mahogany ibanez 7-string with a floyd rose and 'u-bar.'

what you're describing sounds kinda cool tho. you could probly warmoth one easily.

I tried to look it up for you but I quickly got distracted because Ibanez just posted their 2008 catalog.

Yes, I've googled and Yahooed, but to no avail. I know thier K7's and APEX models were all black and those dark, drab colors, I have to imagine this was a one-off, special model. It was after they were big enough to request custom stuff from Ibanez. Regarding Warmoth, that's kind of the idea. I'm more interested in the overall design and color scheme to see if it's as cool as I thought. Maybe applied to a 6 string model or rear routed Strat guitar. Thanks. :)

Ibanez K14:
Used only on "Alone I Break". I remember reading it in a GuitarOne article, first issue I bought actually, and I believe it's a 14 string guitar with some kind of dimarzio in the bridge, one volume knob, and custom bridge. Pretty cool looking, too bad he only used it on one song.
Here ya' go:
That is cool, but I believe this one was red, not sunburst. I wonder what bridge that uses, for 14 strings? ANyway, again thanks for the help..... I wonder if anyone has the mag?

Re: Looking for an odd guitar (KORN)

It was probably just a custom universe/RG-7 which was never released as a production guitar.

I know Munky had a RG-7 which was all black w/white binding that was never released to the public (he used that guitar alot live). The same with Head's silverburst universe which was his number 1 guitar in studio & live.

So... over a decade later I was organizing some stuff and came across this. It’s funny how false memory can fill in details. All we can see is the red body and headstock, white headstock hardware, binding and white knob/switch tip. Can’t see the pickup nor the bridge, although I can imagine it matches. I’m not seeing it wrong though, right? White powercoated hardware?

Anyway, funny to have found it years later. (Guitar, Sept. 1999 for the record) I think I’d still like a six string version today.

Re: Looking for an odd guitar (KORN)

I remember seeing him use a blue one like that. It was blue with white binding, all white hardware and pickups. I think it had a paw print inlay. He used it alot when I saw them with rob zombie years back.

Re: Looking for an odd guitar (KORN)

When I first looked I thought it was chrome or nickel hardware with maybe something shining on it like the photographers lighting.
But now that it’s been pointed out, I can see that it’s white.
I’ve never seen that before. I think thats pretty cool looking.

That’s what I was thinking too, especially because of the technology of photo and printing from 20 years ago. The Floyd lock nut kind of gives it away.

Also, I’ve seen that Buckethead definitely has white powdercoated hardware as well. I think the key is to protect the “functional” areas, like threads, mating surfaces, etc. which is a lot more work than just coating the entire piece.
