Looking for good Metal Guitar help!

I need a guitar for good down tuning like Drop B and A etc. but I also have some specifics

I need it to have 24 frets and easy access since I want to play some MachineHead and they use the 24th fret and I need to reach it but my Les Paul only has 22 frets and not so easy access

so if you know anything with:
24 Frets
Can down tune no problem
around $499-$599 (before tax)
would like active pickups in already but I can put them in if I have to.
25.5" scale length or longer would be great
6 string only

please help me!

You can down tune any guitar. Just put thicker strings on it. 56-13s should work just fine.

The amp will be more important than anything.

Schecter and ESP/LTD have plenty of models in your price range with active pickups and 24 frets. Just pick a shape and go for it. Try playing both first to see if you prefer one neck over the other.

The Jackson X Series are spec'd pretty much exactly like you want. EMG's, Neck through for great access, 24 frets, and some kickass shapes.

Thanks I really like that V lol I have a Gibson Melody Maker V and I love the shape but mine doesnt have much to it... 1 pickup 22 fret and 24.75" scale length

if you dig the V's check out the Dean Dave mustaine line. You can pick up a used one in your price range.

psssst... go to Long & McQuade in Ottawa. Find a Jackson with 24 frets.

Get it set up for the appropriate strings in whatever tuning you want.

I think I am fine with the LTD V-300 just need to save up some money and I would get the Dave Mustaine series but I am not a fan of the graphic ones and the cheapest black one is $300 and next up is $800 and the LTD is $600 so its more in my ballpark thanks though

that is an option but our Long & McQuade only has like 2 Jackson's maybe 3 a Rhodes, Dinky and soloist I didn't care for the Rhodes at all in fact I used to have one and sold it recently it was horrible

Honestly, the guitar probably wasn't set up right. I can't imagine a Rhoads being 'horrible' as you described. I've played many guitars, including a Rhoads, where they were highly recommended and they turn out to not play well at all. Then I'll play one that is properly set-up, fresh strings, clean, etc. and it plays like a dream.

So it was probably just a matter of getting it set-up right. Although, The Rhoads is definitely a stand up player more than it is sitting down. A King V is definitely playable sitting down. If that were an option, I'd look into that if sitting down is a key feature you need to have (Which I couldn't see why you wouldn't need that anyway). The new X series from Jackson have some pretty solid looking King V's with EMG's. Just a thought.

The ESP/LTD isn't a bad route either. Speaking of Mustaine, you could probably see if you could get your hands on an old DV8-R. Those go for around your budget and are solid playing guitars. MANY metal players have played on those, including myself and they're solid axes.

Yup, and you could always cover up Dave's signature on the headstock if you wanted.
