Looking For: JRC 4558D chip

title says it all, I'm looking for the chip to therow in my newly aqquired Menatone Blue COllar OD to try it out...anyone have one lying around for cheap?...I really don't wanna spend $10 for 10 on EvilBay when I only need 1 haha

Lol I wonder if it's any different than the KC4558 chip I have haha.....all these darn letters...it's prolly the same and all "hype" anyways.

If it helps you Mitch I have installed at least half a dozen JRC chips in new Tube screamers and unless you REALLY listen you won't hear a ton of difference. To my ear it is a little clearer sounding, but nothing over the top. It is a fun mod to do for less than a buck and about 20 minutes total work time. TS mods are usually a lot more complex than just the op-amp.

Some here might argue that it does over the top things, but they are silly IMO! :beerchug:

I'd have to agree bro. I've had probably 10 different chips in one and didn't hear a noticable difference.

The only chip I have really noticed a "big" difference with was a Burr Brown OPA2134PA, it made my SD-1 "clearer", and most noticeably reduced the noise level. But, from one 4558 to another, I don't think it will make a huge difference in a TS although I won't argue it with someone who does notice a big difference.
