Looking for new bridge pickup

Hey guys, looking to get a but more aggression out my of strat. It's an American Standard, Rosewood fretboard, maple neck. I'm sure you know the simple details. It still has the stock Fender pickups, hss setup with the s1 switching and such. As good as the pickups sound, I'm looking for something much more aggressive. I want it to have more lows than the jb, and be fuller sounding. I play through a line 6 spider valve, and I'm looking for a good heavy rock sound coming from it. Any bridge pickup suggestions, or hs setup would be appreciated!

SD Li'l 'buckers will give maximum improvement for the minimum of work. (Four screwdriver actions. Under a dozen touches of the soldering iron.) No need to purchase a new pickguard.

Also, something like the Li'l '59 or a Li'l Screaming' Demon will provide a nice boost without completely over-powering the stock single coils.

And you feel these will do better than their humbucker counterparts? I thought a humbucker would usually have more output, or power. And I've got room for one in the guard, so I thought that would be easier to just buy a new bridge humbucker and swap it out. But if you think the Lil versions are just as good, this could be a whole new ballpark

If you want a full size one with more bass than the JB but a similar vibe, go with the Alternative 8.

Your stock bridge pickup should be the Diamondback humbucker.

If you want a "fuller" sounding JB with plenty of "aggression", you should give the Alternative 8 a serious look.

Lil 59 just swapped out stk-s9 love the 59 and put a cool rails in the neck love that to like my strat even more now

His guitar is set up for a humbucker and two singles, not 3 singles.

I'll definitely look into the alternative 8, I was hoping to find one used somewhere but that seems a bit tougher than some of the other standard models. It sounds awesome in recordings though!

I have mine mounted in a Triple Shot ring in my Ibby. Parallel is bright but still full. Splitting to either the screw or slug sounds like the hottest single that you have ever heard.

Fwiw, I did say hss setup, but that's not a big deal. I appreciate all the help! What is the difference between the custom and alternative 8?

It can be. A guitar that left the factory with HSS pickups could be wired up to provide auto coil splitting of the humbucker via the selector switch. The guitar that Fender calls the American Standard Stratocaster would not have the same circuit. (Neither model features S-1 switching.)

It does not help that Fender has tinkered with some of the model names over the years. The American Fat Stratocaster no longer seems to be in use. American Stratocaster HSS is the current moniker. Next year? Who knows?

I didn't quite know that, thanks for the info! The pickups in the guitar have been fine for years, I'm just wanting to get a thicker, more aggressive tone out of it now. The s1 switching makes for a lot of cool tones, but the diamondback humbucker just isn't doing it for me
