Great questions, also, why is a half stack necessary? Many times a combo or head/2x12 will be plenty...

Re: looking for new half stack

im into classic rock and also more new emo/hardcore kinda stuff, im looking into a half stack for bigger tone, i know i can get it from some combo's but i also always wanted an amp to tower in height too, since i always liked that look

Re: looking for new half stack

A half stack is cool IF:

1. You can swing the cash
2. You have roadies (packing up a half stack at 2am after a gig really sucks :) )
3. You have adequate transportation (no, it won't fit in a Miata )

and the most important thing of all:

4. You can really crank it at the places you play. The key to getting a big sound from any amp is to crank it.

Usually, a combo or small cab will be easier to manage in all ways

6. If you live in an apartment, your neighbors are understanding. I know if I get my Hot Rod Deluxe up to 3 my mom flips out at me. And that's with 1 12".

I know how you feel buddy.

Re: looking for new half stack

More detail in your question would be appreciated. So you want a Head and The 4 12 cabinet? Well at $800 there aint much that is actually anygood imo.
