I have always run them with 500K pots. One tip is watch the distance to the string with any A8 mag pickup. They have a strong magnetic pull so can get nasty overtones and loose sustain in particular if set to close to the strings. All pickups are sensitive to a point to this but in my experience the A8 in the 3 I have used ( Crazy8, Custom 8 and Alt 8) is quite particular on it. Hit that sweet range on distance however with the right amp and it's magic!
