as long as the Custom is a 4 wire... i do also suggest replacing the 500k volume pot w/ a 300k. it's a little darker, and gives you more overhead. plus, this single coil settings w/ the triple shot won't sound so thin. it puts it closer to a strat volume pot, which i believe are 250k. although overlooked, swapping out the stock tone knob (which is alll but useless in that guitar) for a higher end potentiometer will give you more control in higher gain settings. rolling back a bit on a decent tone knob in live applications will allow you to crank the amp a little more before you feed back...
in short, gut the stock electronics. for less than 150 bucks, that g-400 will roast any stock sg in tone and groan. it'll be a real sleeper to show off to those Gibsonites whose swear by their "USA's"!
