looking for Tele twang pickup

this sounds kinda stupid even to me...have had a lil '59 in my Tele bridge for years and very happy with it...put an Invader in the bridge of a Strat and it gives me that treble bite that used to go to the Tele with the lil '59...so, to avoid duplication want a more traditional sounding Tele pickup...

Re: looking for Tele twang pickup

Anything in a true single wound to vintage spec will do great. Steer clear of anything "modern" or overwound because every extra turn of wire takes away a little bit of twang.

Re: looking for Tele twang pickup

Broadcaster or Jerry Donahue for mine. Both a little stronger than the absolute vintage wind, but still will give a good bit of vintage tone.

I love the Jerry Donahue too, but you really have to decide on the output level as well. Do you want a traditional Tele output, or is it paired with a humbucker in the neck? What kind of music?

SSL-1 in neck....old time blues and bluesy rock....what is the difference between JD and Broadcaster???

The Broadcaster is very traditional Tele. The JD has probably 50% more power, and thicker in the mids. It still twangs, but doesn't sound as traditional.

Broadcaster sounds like exactly what I want....thank you all once again for the help!!!!!

Is the Broadcaster wound with 43 or 44 ga wire then??......as its K reading is higher than the JD.
