Looking for that perfect Pedal Board

Since I began playing guitar I have used various stomp boxes. But now I find myself wanting one unit to handle my needs as opposed to hauling 19 pedals to a gig.

I figure some sort of multi-effect pedal board will do the job. There sure are a lot out there to choose from. I need help finding one to do a few things for me.

I would like to be able to program and save my own sounds. For example, I'd like to have a clean, dirty rythym, and a dirty clean sound that I can easilly switch between at the tap of my toe without fiddling with knobs and menus. It would also be nice to have a wide array of Mods and Delays. And I'm on still on the fence with Amp Models vs. Normal Distortion/Overdrive effects.

Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

Carl Martin has a switchboard that will allow you to program it in the simplest way possible (a 3 year old can do it no kidding) and use your current analog pedals. Carl Martin also has some very nice distortion pedals and every pedal they make is studio quality in terms of sound and pro quality construction all the way. Our very own Rid is an employee there.

Maybe look into a rackmounted multi and a midi controller.

TC Electronic G-Force, G-Major, Lexicon MPX-G1, G2, ect.....

Re: Looking for that perfect Pedal Board

Check out the Boss GT8, PODxt Live or the Vox ToneLab...either one will keep you busy for a long time.

Re: Looking for that perfect Pedal Board

Any MultiFX board you buy will enable you to save your own patches, and some have stompbox mode, where each pedal acts like an on/off for a chosen stompbox model.

What kind of amp do you have? Will you want to use your amp original distortion? As far as I know, the Boss GT-8 is the only one where you can put your amps original preamp in the effects chain with the other pedal effects. Another great thing I like about the GT-8 is the all the knobs on the front, so you can do last minute tweaks instantly at a gig without having to deal with menus.

I use a Boss ME50. I don't personally like amp models, so it's right up my alley. Three pedals, all knobs (no buttons that get annoying to me), save and edit all patches on the fly. It also, ironically, has some very nice patches from the factory, unlike some DoD pedals I've used, and I have yet to make patches that are thicker sounding than the ones it comes with. There are many multieffects boards, and I don't know if the ME-50 will meet your needs, but I like mine :)
