I used to ahve a Marshall 1960AX w/ Greenies in 'em. The different midrange properties and the bass of the V30 is what I'm diggin' on and tend to like that sound more. Thanks for the suggestion though.

That is why I added the 20's...they have that uppermiddy thing as well, but if you want bass and lower wattage??
I do not think that will work out, the G12H's are lower wattage but have a whole different tone than the spiky V30's!

I used to have some Weber C1230's (Weber repros of the original V30s) in a 2x12 and I REALLY loved the sound. I don't have them anymore because they got fried/blew in a freak accident.
I will admit I have NOT tried the 20's before, I will have to look into obtaining some sound samples of those.
Bass + lower wattage... true that is kind of contradictory to a point. I didn't think of that.
Wel unless someone else suggests otherwise I think G12H30s will work very well for what I'm trying to do.

The G12H's are warm and fat, easily one of my fave Celestions, the V30's can play well at low volumes by the way.

I mix V30's with G12H30's, they compliment each other nicely. But I know what you mean, they need to really be cranked to get the best tone from them. They don't sound bad a low volumes, but they sound better blasted

I like the G12h more than the v30. The G12h still has good definition in the mids but the lower end push is nice too.
The G12h has more emphasis on the lower mids, compared to the 25w greenbacks. I have not tried the 20w versions.

Possibly the Hellatone 30's? If they do the acetone treatment, and are pre-broken in, they may have a ruder low volume sound than new Celestions.
To me, I'm happy with Vin 30's, and if the speakers need more push, just use fewer of them. I get more speaker breakup when using a 2-12, but I don't own a 1-12 cab. A Bogner 1-12 cab would be really useful for using a head at home.
