Epi hollow/semi hollows are probably the only Epis I would buy. They seem to be of good quality, without costing a small fortune. One suggestion I had is to look into a Blueshawk or Tele Thinline...smaller bodies, longer scale, but still good and warm. I couldn't be happier with my Blueshawk. They are very underrated IMO.

Oh, that is one thing that should be said about 335s - they are BIG guitars, bulky and heavy. I really like that, cos I don't do much mad dancing about the stage and I relly love digging into an A chord on it, but if you are used to fender instruments or SGs then it's quite a change...

GuitarStv... out of interest, when you play ur epi, do you ever find the guitar a bit "clangy" or sore on the ears when you hit the top strings? Or should I just turn the treble down on the amp a bit?

Umm, the stock pickups always sounded a bit muddy for me . . . with the duncan's that I put in, I think that the tone is just about perfect. If your Dot sounds clangy, try working the volume knob as well as the tone knob on it. If you back off on the bridge volume/and or tone it will make the pickups a bit less biting. You could also try playing around with the pickup heights, because I noticed that putting them too close to the strings made the guitar sound really REALLY present. I usually have my amp settings at about 6/7/5 (High/medium/low) which helps to get more of a midrange bark out of the guitar than a clang . . .

Look for a used Gibson ES-135 LE. I bought one new a couple of years ago for $1000 and I love it. You should be able to find one used for $700-$800.

They didn't make an amberburst, but they did make a natural. That's the one I have.

They also came in blueburst, red, and black. The red ones are pretty sharp too.
