Looks to be an NAD incoming

Re: Looks to be an NAD incoming

Place your bets ladies and gentlemen:

- jet city 20-watter
- low wattage blackstar
- tweaker
- some type of EVH/5150
- tiny or dark terror

How's my aim?

Ugh, I hate these kinds of threads. Please don't try to put us in suspense with a freaking $200 amp that anyone can buy. If you're going to create suspense, then make it something that people will go "holy **it!"

UMD, stop being a killjoy. Not everyone can afford to blow thousands of dollars on whimsical amp purchases.

I'm betting it's a Jet City 22H

Well, its not a 200 dollar amp, but its also not a high dollar boutique amp either, so I doubt its going to set the world on fire.

its a tube amp or as close as im going to get right now being fairly low wattage. BTW, the above line had a bit of a hint. Should narrow it down some.

Re: Looks to be an NAD incoming

I'm sorry. I didn't intend to be mean. It's just that these threads start every day and I follow them with general happiness for the person receiving it, but it always turns out to be a 1 or 5 watt Blackstar or JetCity or an old Fender. At first they are good threads because you can usually learn something or get opinions on the gear. After a while though it just seems so hackneyed to bother with the suspense.

What I mean to say that is unless it's something you worked your tail off for and saved for months to finally purchase, it's kind of lackluster to create suspense for something most people can just go and grab on a whim. Not to mean that it degrades the value of the gear because all of that gear is great. It's just that I find the struggle and the ultimate attainment of a goal far more impressive. Unless it's some kind of hard-to-obtain gear, then just come out and say what it is so we can follow with interest. That's all I meant.

In all sincerity, congratulations and I'd love to hear about what you got. A review or audio sample would be even better. I'll check back to see how things turned out. Enjoy the new gear.

Cheers

^ "As close" means Blackstar.

"As close" wasnt the hint. it just means it not a full big boy 50-100w tube amp. The hint was actually "set the world on fire" which should lead eventually to Gus G who plays a completely different animal that what this is, but Blackstars none the less.

This is what the amp will be. Interesting that a 20w amp has el34's for power tubes. Its usually el84's or 6v6's.

Ok now we're talking. That is an AWESOME amp.

Re: Looks to be an NAD incoming

Blackstar is killing absolutely everybody in that price range.

It's really not even fair.

Re: Looks to be an NAD incoming

My local guitar shop uses a blackstar head +212 cabinet as it's demo amp. (for guitars and pedals)

what I dislike about it is that it always sounds dark as hell, my jaguar sounded identical to a gretsch I played through it a few days later, that's just weird!
