Loop pedals?

I've been checking some out, and the Jam Man looks pretty cool.

Suggestions? I have had great experience with Boss products so a Loop Station isn't out of the question.

Re: Loop pedals?

www.loopers-delight.com should cover just about everything for you. Some critical questions when considering a looper pedal are:
-Playing by yourself or with a band?
-Do you need to store the loops long term or just while you are using the device?
-Do you want it to also be able to playback loops at a later time (to jam over as a one man band, kind of)
-How precise are you with button tapping? (There is one, the Backline Engineering Riffbox that loops based on your tempo, if you miss a bit with the tap you don't get a wierd loop seam)
-How many loops do you need to lay down at once, and how do you want to manilupate them? (Boss RC-50 or whatever, the big one can do up to three independent loops at the same time)

Re: Loop pedals?

The Boss RC2 is a great practice looper and storage device for ideas. You really have to think about how you want to loop too- I use several different devices depending on the situation, like an RC2, Line6 DL4, Line6 M13 or Echoplex Digital Pro. This chart may help.

Re: Loop pedals?

Electro Harmonix looper has amazing sound quality. I have spent a few weeks working with one. It is easy to use, but i find that any musician who uses a looper end up sounding like anyone else using a looper whether the are a singer, guitarist, multi instruentalist or whatever. The concept seems cool at the start, then yopu realize how lame they sound. Loops are useful for recording grooves etc. but for live, i find even the best musicians end up sounding like they are just doing cheap buskers tricks.

Re: Loop pedals?

The Guitarist for Russian Circles also uses an Akai Headrush extensively live for looping. The few YouTube vids I found don't show it as good as that previously posted link.

Huh? The only way you sound like any other looper is if you play like any other the looper, but that is true no matter if you are using a looper or not. It is just a tool, like a guitar.

Re: Loop pedals?

depends on who is using them. there are just as unique people out there looping as playing guitar.
