Re: looper pedals!
My problem with loopers is this: Imagine music as a language. Now if you were having a conversation or making a speech would repeating yourself over and over again make what you have to say any more salient or expressive? Would it get your point across? Now imagine you keep repeating yourself and then have the ability to repeat something else over it, and then repeat the process. For anyone trying to listen or converse with you in a meaningful way it is pretty difficult.
Repeating yourself does not make what you play more interesting- just repetititve.
Okay im ready for the loop fanatics to tear me to shreds.
cheers!
I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I am not recording 20 second loops.
I record a rhythm guitar part that's the entire length of the song.
Then I overdub a bass part that's the entire length of a song.
Then I overdub tambourine through the mic for the whole song, and so on.
I basically am making my own backing tracks.
When I play over it, I'm doing all the accent stuff, practicing on filling in and comping like I would in a band --- where if you miss it, you move on, because nobody's stoppin for ya!
That way, next time I find a band, I won't be out of practice with playing with a group, because I am playing with a group in my basement; it just all happens to be me, from the last hour or so
