Loose pole piece screws a problem?

I have a Dimarzio Super 3 Humbucker in one of my guitars. I bought it used via ePay. Last night I tried to adjust the pole piece screws a bit and discovered that some of them don't seem to be threaded into anything. When I inserted the hex tool into the screws they pushed straight down pretty easily and turning them does not raise them back up. They just spin. This happened on two out of six screws that I tried to adjust and so I stopped messing with it. I have no idea how many of the other six might be the same way.

What is up with this? Does it matter?

The pickup seems to work fine and it is not prone to feedback. I have never had a Super 3 before but as far as I know it sounds as it should. I am mainly just curious because I have never seen anything like this before.

As long as you are not getting any feedback it's not a problem. You could use a little LockTite on them to keep them in place.

Or remove them and apply some superglue down in there with a tooth pick. Let it dry and then run them down in. They should self tap so to speak.

I'd at least pull the pickup out enough to get those poles back even, unless you already did...

*edit
I forgot it was a DiMarzio, so what I suggested won't work. You can try putting some side pressure on your Allen wrench as youre turning them back out..
